We’re looking for a Head of Operations to support the ongoing growth and development of an exciting charitable organisation.
Position: Head of Operations
Location: Remote, with occasional UK travel to meetings and events (travelling expenses and subsistence paid)

About the role:
We are seeking a Head of Operations to work with the CEO and senior leadership team to manage a broad scope of operational functions, including workplace governance, people management, digital support, data and risk management. The Head of Operations will be a collaborative and hands-on professional with project and people management skills, a track record of operational change management, and the ability to inspire colleagues in new ways of working that ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the Foundation - driving system, quality and process improvements.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Working with the CEO to deliver effective day-to-day operations for the organisation, managing the Operational Excellence Workstream and our approach to Quality.
- Oversee HR, culture and people function, including recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, employee learning & development, working with our external HR advisors when required.
- Promote a culture of equity, inclusion and collaboration, nurturing a positive and supportive environment for all.
- Embed cross-team working, building key relationships and highlighting synergies across our working practices to deliver efficiencies and improvements.
- Oversee compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, ensuring all policies are current and regularly reviewed, including annual review by trustees (e.g. GDPR, Charities Commission) and manage our Complaints process.
- Lead on the management and implementation of safeguarding - ensuring appropriate policies, training and guidance are regularly reviewed.
- Support the CEO in maintaining strong governance and adherence to best practices in charity governance and reporting, including keeping the risk register up to date and progressing actions.
- Produce management reports for the CEO and Trustees as required, supporting the Annual Report & Accounts production and Board of Trustees administration.
- Oversee cyber security and coordinate IT support services, including the Foundation’s IT and digital platforms – maintaining licenses, agreements and contracts.
Essential knowledge, skills & experience include:
- Previous experience in a Senior Operations management role, preferably in a charity or not-for-profit setting
- Strong leadership qualities to lead operations and fulfil an executive function
- Reliable with a high level of discretion and integrity – able to deal with sensitive and confidential matters
- Excellent IT and digital skills including Microsoft Office 365. Skilled in using workplace systems including Teams and SharePoint
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of managing compliance and risk, including safeguarding and GDPR – able to identify and respond to organisational risks
- Exceptional people management and coaching skills with experience of managing HR and L&D functions
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, able to multi-task with attention to detail

Proficiency in office procedures and IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and video calls) is essential. Experience in healthcare or education settings is also desired. Prior experience in a similar role, along with project management skills, is advantageous, especially in supporting service developments from initial stages to full implementation.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Community Education Officer plays an important role in both collaborating with communities to take part in shared learning and disseminating findings to wider audiences throughout the project, informing how it develops and boosting its impact. You will work in partnership with individuals and their communities, under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager as part of the education and advocacy programme. This will include cooperative identification of changes to the food system in Knowsley in the last century, engaging project participants in discussing those changes and raising awareness to wider audiences, supporting the project to achieve its aim of creating a shared understanding and celebrating Knowsley’s heritage and influencing strategies to shape the future of the borough, through sustained, quality engagement. You will support the Community Research Coordinator to capture qualitative and quantitative data that will inform reporting and contribute project monitoring and evaluation, participant outcomes and signposting groups & individuals to project activities with the aim of improving community participation & influence in our work.

This is a training position with the post holders undertaking training at Kings College London as well as working in our face to face frontline Mental Health Support Teams in schools and/or community services. Information about the Training & the Job Role
This is a fixed term post with this training year funded by the NHS. After successful completion of the course the fixed term training contract will end however we will seek recurrent funding. This full-time role will be best suited for applicants who are able to balance a busy work and study schedule, with frequent travel across different sites for university and work. You will be an employee at CDI or OTR but also enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course. As this is a Postgraduate level training, you will be required to study and perform at academic level. Applicants must be prepared to work towards their studies outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work). Protected study time or teaching days are typically 2 days a week during term (with possibility of extra university days near the start) and will be a mixture of in person and online sessions. Following success at the job interview all trainees will be required to attend teaching for up to three days per week for one year. Assessment on the programme will comprise of a combination or written, oral and video assessments. On successful completion of the course, students will graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education Mental Health Practice or Children’s Wellbeing Practice.

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Corporate Partnerships Team. Reporting into the Corporate Partnerships Manger, the post holder will work with the Corporate Partnerships Team to deliver the corporate fundraising strategy.

The role holder must also:
- Pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an Enhanced level.
- Possess excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software, as well as experience updating and maintaining databases.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service performance requirements, ensuring the IT database is up to date and paperwork compliant.
- Receive regular supervision and training to meet individual, team and organization's needs.
- Contribute to the development of a service that is locally responsive and supports minority/disadvantaged communities.
- Comply with and actively promote all Twining policies and procedures including Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, Data Protection and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
