Policy Advocacy Manager Jobs

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced programme coordinator to lead our Travelling with Confidence grant, engaging and empowering disabled people, promoting independent mobility, using rail and connecting modes. Working with our members and partners you will coordinate and support the delivery of this important programme, helping to ensure it is participatory, empowering, effective and well-evaluated, while sharing learnings and building a lasting legacy. 

Responsibilities

Programme coordination, delivery and monitoring and evaluation:

• Ensure good coordination and communication between delivery partners and support their high-quality delivery in line with timeframes and requirements, including via steering group meetings and individual support.
• Offer support, guidance and ideas to our delivery partners to assist their work, helping them to build capacity and confidence and meet their objectives. This includes support to engage with, and draw on the experiences, ideas and voices of disabled people. 
• Support delivery partners in establishing co-creation principles and empowering ways of working for their projects, and drawing up theories of change, drawing on good practice and expertise.
• Work with stakeholders at all levels to facilitate positive collaboration and help develop our wider network while supporting project objectives and raising awareness about this work.
• Produce communications content to support project delivery, such as case studies and blogs, and work with our Communications and Policy team to promote the programme, its achievements, and amplify the voices/views/needs of the disabled people engaged.
• Set up and run an accompanying small grant fund (using/adapting our existing processes and systems) for other community rail partnerships/groups to deliver travel confidence initiatives with disabled people. Provide similar support and advice to those grant-funded to that offered to the core delivery partners, in line with their needs.
• Support monitoring, data collection and meaningful evaluation by all core and grant-funded delivery partners, ensuring this is in line with project reporting requirements, and serves our goals around legacy-building and empowering those involved.
• Monitor and review project objectives, troubleshooting any issues in a timely manner.
• Financial management of the grant budget, managing internal (Community Rail Network) budget spend as well as monitoring the delivery partner budgets in partnership with the project leads, ensuring these are in line with agreed grant funding. 

 Grant administration, reporting and liaison

• Maintain and develop relations with our grant provider, ensuring we meet reporting deadlines and other requirements (such as attendance at progress meetings).
• Work with project partners to agree the data set requirements and outcome parameters for evaluation, and provide suitable reporting tools.
• Completion of grant reports and financial statements, including coordinating and reviewing project delivery data (from project partners). 

 Evaluation and legacy building

• Produce guidance and tools to support wider delivery across community rail and beyond, working with our member support and communications teams.
• Work with colleagues, members and partners to raise wider awareness about the project and its findings and build a legacy. This includes set up and delivery of a member webinar (with support from the events team) to share project experiences.

 Team and partnership working (as relevant and appropriate)

• Contribute to the wider objectives and development of Community Rail Network by sharing project progress and learning and offering advice and input.  Work with our member support & development team to help embed lessons from the project and improve our ongoing support for members on rail confidence initiatives and the involvement and empowerment of disabled people.
• Feed into our senior team on strategic insights and ideas emerging from the programme to help us advocate for more inclusive, confident (rail) travel for disabled people.
• Attend, and support, community rail events (internal and external) to develop knowledge and understanding of the movement and its role.
• Contribute to the development of our internal systems (e.g. spreadsheets, CRM) such as by data capturing relevant contacts and details. 
• As a member of the Community Rail Network team, assist with more general work as needed.

Skills and competencies

1. A proven track record in project management, including coordinating between multiple delivery partners and ensuring project/funding requirements are met, and supporting/overseeing effective monitoring and evaluation.
2. Demonstrable experience in supporting community projects, ideally related to inclusion and mobility, including working with disabled people.
3. A good understanding of and confidence using community engagement, local communications, project planning and evaluation techniques.
4. The ability to collaborate and communicate with community groups and other local partners, draw on their views and expertise, and support them to deliver effectively.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work confidently with stakeholders at all levels and facilitate positive discussion; articulate and assertive, and a great team player.
6. A proven ability to bring partners and groups together, develop and maintain mutually-beneficial partnerships, deliver joint activities, and form professional networks.
7. Good writing and analysis skills, with the ability to draw on quantitative and qualitative evidence, produce case studies and reports.
8. Awareness of accessibility, social mobility and social inclusion issues, and an appreciation of the importance of rail, sustainable travel and mobility to communities and disabled people.
9. A demonstrable ability to manage time effectively and juggle a range of activities in an organised, professional, productive manner, including planning and scheduling, coordinating with colleagues and partners, and bringing projects to fruition. 
10. Proactive, positive and self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and inspire and enthuse others, and overcome hurdles to achieve results.
11. IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, the internet and social media.

Other information

Location: This post is home-based, but with some travel (including occasional overnight stays) for project meetings, events and external meetings. Applicants will need local access to a train station to enable rail-based travel for work as needed.

Job purpose: To undertake safety focused support work with the partners and ex-partners of clients who have been mandated to attend the domestic abuse prevention programme. To liaise with the Drive Partnership Triage team, actively contribute to risk management procedures and team working. 

The Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO) is a civil order that was legislated for in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, the aim of which is to provide longer-term protection to victims of domestic abuse. DAPOs can be applied for in all court jurisdictions by the victim, police or a third party.

DAPOs can impose both prohibitions and positive requirements on perpetrators. Positive requirements can be in the form of interventions aimed at reducing and managing risk, mandated by Court to address issues or needs related to factors that are not the causation of abuse but impact on risk. These could include engaging with Mental Health services, Substance Misuse services or attending a Perpetrator-Focused Domestic Abuse behaviour change programme. 

Our involvement:
As a key local partner TLC: Talk, Listen, Change supported Greater Manchester Police’s application to be part of the pilot and we are now commissioned by the Drive Partnership to enhance our existing locally commissioned voluntary perpetrator behaviour change programmes as part of the DAPO pilot. We are seeking to expand our existing Domestic Abuse Prevention Team to support the pilot. The Home Office are funding a two year pilot which will be tested and evaluated in order to prepare for national roll out in 2026. 

Key Responsibilities:

Client Work

• To ensure that clients whose partners have been mandated to attend a Domestic Abuse Prevention programme are contacted and offered support and information about their rights and other sources of support and advice
• To provide telephone support, advice and referrals to other agencies, to the (ex-) partners of the clients on the domestic abuse prevention programme
• To conduct face-to-face support, advice and safety planning sessions
• To provide advocacy on behalf of clients with external agencies where appropriate
• To liaise with other agencies as appropriate, attending core group and case conferences as required
• To take part in casework and risk review meetings with other team workers about client’s participation and issues from work with partners, to ensure that partners and children's safety remains at the forefront of the work.
• To assist in presentations or workshops about the DAPO* Pilot
• To provide day-to-day support, advice and back-up to other workers and/or volunteers.

Administration 

• To undertake outcome monitoring and evaluation questionnaires using the Domestic Abuse Prevention Programme service outcomes framework
• To provide assistance in producing statistical and other reports on work done to meet the requirements of funders and the Board of Trustees and co-operating in the on-going evaluation of TLC: Talk Listen Change.
• To maintain appropriate client records, keeping accurate client notes and making use of TLC: Talk, Listen, Change’s case management system. 

Other

• To work across multiple delivery sites, main sites to be agreed upon job offer with occasional cover necessary across Greater Manchester. 
• To participate in developing policy, strategies, and working practices of TLC: Talk Listen Change by attending meetings and giving feedback as appropriate to others doing this work.

This exciting Project Assistant role will work closely with the Programme Development Officer to support the development and delivery of Reclaiming Our Power. Reclaiming Our Power will explore the impact of racist microaggressions on mental health through creative peer support workshops with people with lived experience of racism, and will use learning to co-design and co-deliver learning opportunities to people working in the public and charity sectors delivering Glasgow’s services.

This project and role are funded with thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund Scotland.

What does the role involve?

• Organising events including creative peer support workshops, volunteer meetings, and training sessions
• Supporting the co-development and co-delivery of tailored training to people training/working in public-facing services
• Acting as a key point of contact for group participants and volunteers, building relationships with them and responding to queries and concerns

Based within the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse Service, the IDVA team works within a multi-agency system to provide a proactive, person-centered independent service for victims of domestic abuse, empowering choice through informed decision making.

This is a temporary 6 month position, however this post is likely to be extended.

Key elements of the role include:

• Providing priority support to service users.
• Risk assessing and helping to keep service users safe through safety planning.
• Enabling victims to access statutory and other services.
• Engaging with and supporting the MARAC process, to ensure that the voice of victims is heard.

SignHealth is partnering exclusively with Robertson Bell to recruit a Credit Controller on a permanent, full-time basis. SignHealth aims to improve healthcare and access to health services for deaf people. As well as campaigning, research and health promotion, we provide supported living schemes and outreach for deaf people with mental health problems. We provide a national Advocacy and Counselling service and support for deaf victims of domestic abuse.

This role will be responsible for the collection of service contract debtors, as well as care fees from self-funding and local government authority residents. The role will interact with a wide range of stakeholders and will deliver excellent customer service – working proactively to reduce any barriers to debt collection and to improving SignHealth’s debt collection processes at a time the organisation is forecast to grow rapidly and significantly.

The key responsibilities of this Credit Controller role include:

• Raise all sales invoices (recurring and ad hoc), for SignHealth in an accurate and timely manner.
• Work with the Accountant and Head of Finance to develop and maintain accurate invoicing schedules.
• Work with colleagues across SignHealth to ensure that accurate invoices are raised – e.g. to account for changes in service delivery
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and other stakeholders to ensure prompt payment and resolution of billing disputes
• Proactively chase outstanding debts through telephone calls, emails and letters
• Perform monthly sales ledger reconciliations and check for anomalies, work with other finance team members to reconcile statements to the accounts
• Provide regular debtor status reports to the Accountant and Head of Finance – contribute to the development of management information for ELT including the cash flow forecast and debtor aging – as well as drafting written commentary for the management accounts
• Maintain accurate contact and contract information for all customers
• Contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements and recommend internal process improvements
• Take an active role in aiding managers’ and team members’ understanding of their financial responsibilities

Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision-making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge-sharing events both online and face-to-face across the organisation, in addition to overseeing technical publications.

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Community-Based Fisheries Management. This individual would oversee the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners working with communities around the world as they establish community-based fisheries management and locally managed marine areas. As such our technical team plays a key role in identifying, collating, sharing, and transferring key insights and successful approaches, updating information, training, tools, and guidance around the world, and building a community of practice around each of the pillar themes.

At the heart of Blue Ventures’ 2030 strategy is an unwavering commitment to empowering communities through participatory data collection, feedback, and use of fisheries and ecological data for adaptive management, and playing a leadership role in our sector to make this the norm. The Global Head - Community-Based Fisheries Management will have a strong understanding and technical experience of data-driven adaptive fisheries management in the small-scale fisheries sector, with proven skills in coaching and team building skills and effective management capacity in leading a multi-disciplinary team and working cross-functionally.

Blue Ventures recognises the key roles that women play in fisheries management and conservation as fishers, gleaners, processors, sellers and negotiators and seeks to highlight the important value of their roles in the fisheries value chain, that are often invisible, so that they also benefit. An understanding of the challenges faced particularly by women in fisheries and experience of working in communities to find some practical solutions desirable for this role. The role will work in close collaboration with the Technical Knowledge team to support these goals, which includes working with fisher associations and committees to increase the participation of women in fisheries management.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the complex challenges facing tropical coastal fisheries and the small-scale fishing communities that depend on them. They will have practical experience of working with coastal communities in Africa, Asia or Central America, and partnering with civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, government institutions, and other stakeholders to identify and address fishing issues, placing communities at the heart of the solution.

1. Vision and direction

• Articulate a clear vision for the organisation’s campaigning; lead the organisation and the team to implement this vision and help deliver an increase in the scale and impact of WaterAid’s global influence to accelerate progress towards SDG6;

2. Global Campaign Plans

• Lead the design and implementation of WaterAid’s priority global campaigns to maximise WaterAid’s influence on global and national political debates, working in partnership with senior leaders across the organisation.
• In partnership with the Global Policy and Advocacy Director, ensure WaterAid’s campaigns and advocacy are rooted in robust evidence and credible policy analysis;

This role is an opportunity to work for Mind BLMK as part of the peer support service, you will have the opportunity to use your own personal experience of mental health challenges to coordinate the running of a Peer Support Service in Milton Keynes, provide information and guidance, and implement referral pathways to the wider Recovery Service.

Our peer support and recovery services are a key element of the services we offer, and we are looking for someone who can use their own lived experiences to provide support to help individuals achieve their goals. Key Activities

• Operate a Peer Support service including peer support groups and mentoring across Milton Keynes and ensure outcomes which supports individuals with mental health and wellbeing needs in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed Peer Support model and requirements as well as contract requirements.
• Carry out assessments on individuals’ suitability for Mind BLMK’s Peer Support service in line with the Access to Service procedure
• Work with the Peer Support Manager to ensure regular involvement of service users, volunteers and staff on local service delivery, organisational matters and wider mental health strategies
• Maintain an effective workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (recruitment, line management, workload planning, support and development of Peer Support Workers and volunteers).
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Mind BLMK team and relevant key post holders.
• Provide the infrastructure Peer Support Workers need to deliver the support safely and confidently.
• Hold responsibility for all Cash Handling, Health and Safety and Data Collection responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader in line with Mind BLMK’s policies, procedures, requirements and guidance.
