The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide support and interventions to those affected by domestic abuse to empower and support and break the cycle of domestic abuse throughout their journey with Stop Domestic Abuse, regardless of risk. The Navigator will be committed to family work and proactively work to recognise and implement solution focused actions to ensure eradicate domestic abuse from families lives.

The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide additional expertise to the wider team and enrich the service with specialist knowledge and guidance relating to victims who may experience additional barriers to accessing support from our service due to their ethnicity. The Lead Navigator will develop initiatives, workshops and training packages for both internal and external professionals. The role will encompass peer to peer support, direct one-to-one support to victims who may be at medium or high risk of harm, whilst also engaging with communities and local organisations in the local area to improve our response to domestic abuse. This role does not involve the line management of staff.

The Portsmouth Service operates as one team, and all staff are responsible for taking referrals for all aspects of the service, offering immediate support, advice and assessments to clients or people contacting the service, welcoming families into refuge and completing relevant paperwork, and ensuring the smooth running of the service.  This will include providing cover when required for absent colleagues to ensure that the core functions of the service are delivered and responding to changing demand in service provision. The Portsmouth Service is a team committed to whole family work, when safe to do safe, creating a family journey through the service.

The Portsmouth Service is staffed 9am-9pm Monday to Friday and 10am-6pm Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. This role’s working pattern will fall within the hours of 9am-5pm Monday- Friday.

It is essential that the postholder has a driving licence and access to a car for work purposes as this role covers multiple sites in Portsmouth.

 

Flint House Police Rehabilitation is a registered Charity offering rehabilitation services to ill or injured serving and retired police officers suffering from a wide variety of physical and mental health conditions. Every year we treat over 3,000 police officers. Located just outside Goring on Thames in our beautiful Flint House and set in 20 acres of ancient woodland, this role will play a crucial role in  support our mission and ensure the financial sustainability of the Charity.

Supporting the CFO in the day to day financial management of the Charity and working alongside the Finance Assistant this role combines robust financial management along with payroll operations, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of the Charity’s payroll processes. This generalist role also includes overseeing the production of the monthly management accounts, statutory financial statements, forecast and budgets, quarterly VAT returns, and other statutory returns, including co-ordinating the annual external audit. This role is central to ensuring the Charity’s financial and payroll systems operate seamlessly, maintaining compliance while delivering excellent service to stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities

Financial Management 

• Compile and analyse financial information to prepare financial statements, including monthly and annual accounts. 
• Ensure financial records comply with accepted policies and procedures, and all reporting deadlines are met. 
• Prepare financial management reports and ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes. 
• Contribute to the planning and production of annual statutory accounts, working closely with external auditors. 

Compliance and Taxation 

• Oversee statutory returns for VAT, Partial Exemption, and other compliance schemes, ensuring adherence to tax regulations and meeting all deadlines. 
• Keep updated with changes in accounting and tax legislation affecting the charity sector, implementing necessary changes as required. 

Budgeting and Strategic Analysis

• Manage and support budget and forecast activities, analysing financial operations, including revenue, expenditure trends, and financial commitments. 
• Regularly report on key performance indicators and recommend strategies for efficient resource use and process improvement. 

Payroll Management

• Prepare and run the monthly payroll process, ensuring deadlines are met, and pay, pensions, and statutory deductions (e.g., tax, NI) are accurate and compliant with regulations. 
• Maintain and update SAGE Payroll systems, guaranteeing timely and correct payments to employees and external bodies such as HMRC. 
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related queries, offering excellent support to employees and stakeholders. 
• Regularly review payroll processes to identify and implement improvements, ensuring efficiency and compliance. 

System and Process Development

• Support the development and maintenance of finance systems, improving accounting controls and reconciliation processes to ensure data integrity. 
• Proactively review and enhance processes related to payroll, accounting systems, and internal controls. 

Other Responsibilities

• Support the CFO in treasury functions and deputize for them as necessary. 
• Provide training and guidance to both finance and non-finance colleagues.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified Accountant with a strong background in payroll management. 
• Advanced spreadsheet skills and ability to develop robust financial models. 
• Demonstrated experience in managing monthly payroll processes and handling confidential information appropriately. 
• Proficiency in preparing management accounts, financial statements, forecasts, and budgets.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge 

• Familiarity with SAGE Payroll and Sage Line 50 packages.

About CARIS Families

CARIS Families is a small, frontline charity that supports families who are homeless and living in overcrowded multi-occupant hostels in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Camden. Life in temporary accommodation hostels entrenches children and their parents in poverty and disadvantage. Families suffer from acute overcrowding, inadequate basic facilities and a permanent sense of unsafety. The nature of hostel life isolates people from their support networks, decimates their physical and mental health and becomes an adverse life experience in itself for families already suffering the trauma of having become homeless.

CARIS Families exists to provide early intervention to mitigate the worst effects of hostel life and homelessness for children and parents in our four target hostels. We do this by providing hands-on play, learning and social activities to help children meet their potential, improve families’ wellbeing and build their support network.  We provide a holistic family support service that case-works with each family individually to reduce financial and other pressures on them as they wait for a permanent home.  We also use our data and learned experiences about temporary accommodation to join campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation policy and practice, both locally and nationally.

We have just received funding to employ a dedicated Housing Rights Manager for the next two years. This is an exciting addition to our team, as it will be our first staff member dedicated to helping our homeless families with their housing case. The housing system is notoriously opaque: families tell us it can be a hopeless minefield to navigate independently and that they often can’t access meaningful help with it, resulting in years-long hostel stays. Our Housing Rights Manager will step into the gap and work with families on an individual basis to gain the information and support they need to progress their housing case and expedite their move-on into a suitable home.

About the role

Our Housing Rights Manager will be a key member of our Family Support Service. They will manage a weekly drop-in clinic from within the hostels where they will assess new housing cases and develop a support plan with families. They will manage a full housing caseload of housing support work, collaborating with relevant local groups, local authority partners and law centres to progress families’ housing cases. They will learn from the barriers families tell us they face, develop CARIS Families’ housing advice service in response and use these learnings to contribute to campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation practices and policies locally and nationally.

In their first year, the Housing Rights Manager will work in partnership with housing solicitors at Shelter to write a Housing Information and Rights handbook tailored to the processes of our target boroughs. The handbook will aim to demystify the temporary accommodation system in our two boroughs, explain residents’ legal rights and help them understand their options. It will form a key part of the support we can offer and allow us to reach many more families in hostels than our small staff team can individually casework with.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed staff team of just 5, working in a person-centred and community-minded way to make a real difference to families on the frontline of inner-London’s housing crisis.

Dandelion Time’s pioneering nature-based therapy seeks to rebuild the confidence and self-belief of children and families impacted by trauma, enabling them to take the necessary steps to move forward.  To support our expansion across Kent, we have an exciting opportunity to join our close knit and hugely supportive team as the Bid Manager.  We have just launched our five-year plan and need an experienced, confident and collaborative individual who will be able to hit the ground running.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and supported by an experienced part-time Bid Writer you will be lead on the development and implementation of the income generation strategy for bids, primarily from Trusts and Foundations. Your focus will be to identify a diverse range of high value opportunities to build a pipeline of sustainable income.

To excel in this role you will demonstrate significant experience of researching and writing detailed and compelling proposals for trusts.  You will have a proven track record of meeting and exceeding income targets, securing one-off or multi-year grants of five-figure sums or above and multi-year funding.  

Your excellent communication skills will enable you to cultivate and manage relationships with key decision-makers, including the day-to-day management of both new and existing funders.

Our Head of Children, Young People and Families leads the work of our Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) service and the Building Young Brixton (BYB) Partnership, and is a key part of the Senior Leadership team at High Trees, helping us achieve our ambitions across the board.

Our Children, Youth and Families work serves the Tulse Hill and wider Lambeth community, operating from our dedicated youth and play site at Tulse Hill Adventure Playground, where the CYPF team are based. We deliver a multi-faceted and integrated service allowing us to provide seamless support for children and young people from 8-18, including daily after school and weekend open access adventure play sessions, community and school based mentoring programmes, a work experience and youth leadership programme, and youth social action projects. Key Responsibilities

You will be part of a small team of specialists who lead, advise and support the business and help deliver our strategy.

With around 160 staff members the HR Team play a hugely important role in all aspects from recruitment to learning, wellbeing to pensions. It is a small team, and we need someone with experience to deal with the multiple facets of HR and someone who is a “doer”. This role will require an experienced HR generalist with some knowledge of payroll. First and foremost, the postholder will lead the HR systems and management activity across KSS and ensure with the support of the team that the Core People Tasks are fulfilled to a high standard each month. Secondly, the postholder in partnership with the People Business Partner will support the senior leadership team, managers and staff throughout the organisation to deal with HR related matters in whatever form they take. Ideally you will have an overview of organisational design and procedures, which will allow you to act as an adviser to resolve staffing issues/conduct, absence and sickness management, recruitment and retention. Empathy and an understanding of the importance of process are important characteristics.

Thirdly, with the core tasks complete there is then freedom to develop our approach to HR, internal culture and learning and put your own stamp on KSS. The postholder will work closely with all business areas to align the HR strategies with the business goals and organisational culture. We have a full-time vacancy for an Executive to join the Prospect Development team (the team currently consists of one Manager and two Officers).  This role will focus on providing information on prospects, improving our data integrity, identifying connections and supporting the team.  The team takes a data driven approach to fundraising, ensuring that information is centrally logged and can be used in the future to help us identify further high value opportunities.

This role sits within the wider Insight and Development function, the aim of which is to maximise Alzheimer’s Research UK’s fundraised income and support the charity by driving collaborative, efficient and sustainable fundraising. This means that you will predominantly work with our Philanthropy and Corporate functions but will be positioned to work collaboratively across the whole organisation.

 

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

· Undertake detailed research on prospects and donors in order to increase our knowledge of potential donors and to increase the likelihood for a successful fundraising ask.

· Be proactive and creative in identifying new potential donors and be able to present findings to fundraising colleagues.
