Young Climate Warriors

Who we are

Our vision is for every child in the UK to feel engaged and empowered to be able to reflect, discuss and choose their own informed path of action in relation to climate change.  Our mission is to advance the climate literacy of all children aged 7-14yrs, in the UK, by providing free resources to all teachers, educators, families and community groups, as well as to inspire a nationwide team of ‘young climate warriors’, who are choosing to practice carbon–cutting actions and make sustainable living choices.

Engaging and empowering individuals … Young Climate Warriors is about empowering children with fun, manageable carbon-busting, sustainable living challenges … building capability, providing opportunity and helping motivate … encouraging investigating choices, noticing habits, and being adventurous! Promoting a ‘stubborn optimistic’ ethos.

Reaching families and communities … all our resources are designed with ‘culture’ and ‘community’ at their heart, with discussion and activities that can be continued in the home, with family members, or as part of community groups, facilitating wider community behavioural change, shaping new sustainable-living social norms.

Promoting and engendering systemic change …YCW supports  the Climate and Nature Bill, and is a member of the Climate Coalition. As Let’s Go Zero coalition member we’re part of the bigger picture zero carbon schools agenda.  We support and promote global and national climate and nature campaigns within our resources.

We are a small, professional team managing a growing and ambitious charity.

At Young Climate Warriors, we don’t believe that it is our children’s job to solve the climate crisis; but we do believe passionately that they – like all of us – should have the opportunity to find out how we can live more sustainably.  Change is urgently needed to tackle society’s #1 challenge.  We support a 'stubborn optimistic' view about our ability to tackle our climate crisis.
