About us
Who we are
YMCA Scarborough is a registered charity, run by local people to serve the local community since 1846. Over the years we’ve been based in various buildings within the town, but we’ve focused on providing support and opportunities to young people and the wider community – helping them to believe in themselves and realise their full potential.
We provide opportunities for all young people, whether they’re facing difficult and challenging issues or simply looking for something to do.
We use our dance and fitness studios, meeting room, sports hall and 290-seat theatre to provide a unique range of activities including sports, youth club, musical theatre (we put on a number of top-quality productions each year – recent examples include Jesus Christ Superstar, Our House, Grease, Little Shop of Horrors and Guys and Dolls), Arts Award, volunteering and our very own YMCA Band. We are the permanent base for Rowlies Academy of Dance and Yorkshire Coast School of Ballet.
Our rooms are also available to hire at very reasonable rates – take a look at the photo’s and get in touch with us to discuss your needs. Not only can you benefit from a great town-centre location, you can also support a local charity that does great things for young people!
YMCA Scarborough is also proud to be part of a global family, operating in over 140 countries, forming the world’s oldest and largest youth charity.
