About us
Who we are
Worker Info Exchange is a non profit organisation dedicated to helping workers access and gain insight from data collected from them at work.
Digital rights are increasingly important in the fight for worker rights for gig economy workers who are managed and controlled at work by hidden algorithms. Opaque automated management systems foster exploitation and discrimination. We challenge these practices through three strands of activity:
Data access
We facilitate data access by making specific subject access and data portability requests on behalf of workers. Our goal is to create transparency over their working conditions by interrogating how their work is allocated, how their pay is determined and how their performance is assessed.
Data investigations
We carry out targeted investigations and data analyses to expose unfair algorithmic decision making. These investigations support the strategic litigation work through which we help workers contest illegal automated dismissals and management decisions.
Data trusts
We support trade unions and grassroots worker organisations to aggregate their data with other workers through the development of data trusts. Armed with powerful analysis, workers can be better resourced for collective bargaining and action.
