Who we are

WIth Kids is a community-based children's mental health charity working across the central belt of Scotland.  We work with children under 12 who have experienced trauma/adversity such as family breakdown, parental drug abuse, bereavement or neglect and offer them Play Therapy.  Play Therapy is an evidence based intervention where children are supported to work through emotional difficulties and expand their emotional, social, practical and cognitive resources. 

We work with families of children receiving Play Therapy, as well as families in the wider community, to improve family life and reduce social isolcaiton.  We do this through building warm, respectful relationships and facilitating families to identify their own difficulties, practical and emotional, and find solutions to these.  This may include counselling, parent/carer advice and skills, or accessing other services.   We also hold a host of community activities such as arts and craft, after school clubs, etc.  The holistic nature of our work not only deals with the needs of an individual child but the needs of the whole family and wider community. 

Our aim is to break cycles of deprivation and improve children's mental well-being through allowing them to address their difficulties at the earliest stage.  Out work with families and the community aims to create a more nurturing family / community context where children can thrive and fulfil their potential.
