Who we are

About us

Wintercomfort for the homelss supports those who are homeless or at risk of losing their homes by offering them basic amenities, opportunities for educational development and recreation, and a range of services designed to help them achieve greater autonomy.

Wintercomfort supports men and women who are homeless or vulnerably housed by offering them vital welfare services and opportunities for learning and training. We are a day centre open 7 days a week. Wintercomfort was founded in 1994.

Welfare services 

An essential welfare service for those most in need. A free hot cooked breakfast for rough sleepers; tea, coffee, toast and cereal are free to all. Shower, laundry and clothes store facilities available.  Drop-in help and advice from agencies on housing, health and other issues.

Learning and Training

The Pathways project offers a wide range of activities, information, advice and guidance to support personal development.  Activities include arts and crafts, visits to museums, sporting activities, catering skills, IT and job skills. The Pathways project is supported by Reaching Communities (A Big Lottery Fund).

Building self esteem

We host a weekly programme of leisure and recreational opportunities that are always service user led and respond to their interests. 

Individual appointments 

Appointments are used to see our specialist project workers. Every service user has an allocated project worker. Sessions work on individual service users’ issues in very practical ways, for example, providing housing and debt advice.

Wintercomfort's Social enterprises 

Food 4 Food

We provide the finest buffet lunches for private and corporate clients in the Cambridge area, whilst offering valuable work experience and training opportunities for homeless people. 

Food 4 Food Cafe

A community cafe based at St Andrew’s Hall, Chesterton. Open from 12-2pm Tuesday-Friday. We serve freshly made, tasty, affordable meals and snacks. Alongside providing training and work opportunities.

Overstream Clean

Our professional cleaning service in Cambridge offering people opportunities to gain vocational skills and work experience within the cleaning industry and provide realistic employment prospects within Cambridge. Overstream Clean provides a wide range of services including garden services, domestic cleaning, house clearances, one off deep cleans and office cleans please contact us for further information.
