About us
Who we are
About us
Our aim is for people to live comfortably and independently at home for as long as they choose, enabling them to enjoy their lives in the surroundings they love.
We believe that everyone has the right to independence. Any profit we make goes towards helping vulnerable people pay for home improvements that they couldn't afford themselves.
Our support includes specialist advice on home adaptations and accessible bathrooms.
We also provide home improvement and repair services in the Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire areas. We help for individuals that are leaving hospital and completing minor repairs such as fixing a leaking tap.
Our vision, mission and values
Our vision is that all homes enable safety and wellbeing. We achieve our vision through our mission, which is to improve homes so people can live independently for as long as possible.
We are not for profit, which means any money that we make goes back into the organisation to support vulnerable people who cannot afford to pay for our services.
Our staff know what a difference their work makes to the lives of local people. We live and breathe our organisational values, which guide our work from day to day. These are:
- We are experts
- We are resourceful
- We are caring
- We act with integrity.
Our track record
As a trusted brand with over 30 years of local experience, we’re proud of the strong links we’ve developed with local councils, health organisations, charities and community sector organisations.
We’re also recognised nationally for the work we do. We recently won Handyperson Service of the Year at the 2018 Home Improvement Agency Awards and Home Improvement Agency of the Year in 2014, 2016 and 2017.
Not-for-profit
Previously known as WE Care & Repair – We Care Home Improvements is a not-for-profit independent Home Improvement Agency (HIA) with charitable status. We provide home improvement and repair services in the Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire, offering support to those aged over 60, as well as people of all ages who have a disability, are on a low income or coming out of hospital.
Our partners
We are commissioned by Bristol City Council and Bath and North East Somerset Council to provide funded home improvement work in these areas, for eligible clients who could not otherwise afford to pay. If subsidies are not available, we support clients to access low cost loans.
We are commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council to provide a county-wide minor adaptations service.
Our Management Board
We Care Home Improvements is led by a Management Board of both volunteer Non-Executive and paid Executive Directors. The Management Board provides effective oversight of the organisation’s activities through the development of the organisation’s strategic objectives and the regular review of its day-to-day activities.
