About us
Who we are
Waterside Parents’ Centre was established in 1996 as an early intervention project providing a wide range of supportive services to families with babies and pre-school children living in the Gravesham Borough in Kent.
Our key aims are to support parent's mental health and emotional wellbeing, prevent child abuse and build stronger, happier families.
We support between 85-100 families, by referral only. Our core support focuses on reducing isolation, providing socialisation for parent and child, developing parenting skills, managing behaviour, and importantly raising confidence, self-esteem, emotional health and well-being for parents to support better outcomes for our most vulnerable families.
We offer 1-2-1 support, peer support groups, structured family sessions, courses and parenting programmes, and agency clinics.
Our culture and values
Waterside Parents' Centre provides a gentle and nurturing environment for families.
Our belief is that if parents mental health and emotional wellbeing can be improved and sustained, the outcomes are greatly improved for the whole family.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Waterside Parents’ Centre staff and Trustees are committed to providing services which are accessible and relevant to children and families of all backgrounds and cultures within the local community in order to make a difference in their lives. We respect and celebrate difference, and will promote the principles of understanding, and respect for others. Nobody, children and their families, staff and visitors to the Centre, will be discriminated against on the grounds of social circumstances, background, gender, race, colour, ethnic origin, disability, sexuality, marital status, civil partnership, age, or religion.
