About us

Who we are

Victim Support is an independent charity dedicated to supporting people affected by crime and traumatic incidents in England and Wales.

Our purpose is to provide specialist help and services, to support people to cope and recover until they feel they are back on track with their lives. We work with clients in a way that suits them and ensure their voices are heard throughout their support and beyond.

Our services help people affected by all types of crime and we provide free confidential support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We offer support regardless of whether people have reported the crime to the police or when it occurred and we will help someone for as long as they need us to.

Most of our services are delivered locally through skilled staff and volunteers who are deeply rooted within their communities. We adapt our services to meet local need. Our local services are complemented by our National Homicide Service which provides a dedicated, comprehensive service for those bereaved by murder and manslaughter and our national Supportline which provides access to professional advice and support 24/7.

Victim Support is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity and to creating an inclusive working environment. We believe having a diverse workforce at all levels allows us to represent the communities we serve and connect better with people affected by crime. We believe this can be achieved through attracting, developing and retaining a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds. We are a Disability Confident Employer and a member of the Business Disability Forum. We have also been a Stonewall top 100 employer since 2010 and placed highly in our sector in addition to being recognised as a ‘Top Trans employer’. We have also been ranked #5 in the National Centre for Diversity’s 2021 top 100 employers’ list.
