Who we are
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is the UK’s leading professional body for the education, training, accreditation and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors in the UK.
Our membership includes over 9,000 individual therapists and more than 70 training and accrediting organisations. Our individual members work privately, in public health or third sector organisations offering a wide variety of psychotherapeutic approaches.
Our mission is to:
- *engage with the public to raise awareness of high quality psychotherapies, advocate their use and influence policy to improve access to services
- *promote excellence by setting standards in ethics and training
- *protect the public through robust regulation
- *speak out against injustice, and
- *represent the profession nationally and internationally.
