About us
Who we are
Objectives
We are a small community Theatre providing Arts based education for our local and regional residents. Our Theatre activities benefit a wide range of people from a socially deprived area in Lowestoft where access to the Arts is limited. We provide financially accessible performances as well as access to education in the arts for wide variety of vulnerable groups including, those with learning disabilities, children with SEND and the long term unemployed. We also use our facilities to support a large number of other groups including those who work with Mental Health and substance abuse issues.
Activities
We operate a thriving community theatre with a wide ranging programme of music, drama and performance. The programme is designed to be affordable to local residents and is publicised specifically to local groups who would otherwise not engage with the Arts. In addition we operate several volunteer drama groups to enable local community members to directly participate in the creation of theatrical events.
Our organisation also provides volunteering and work experience opportunities for a large number of local people including many who have experienced previous difficulties with substance abuse, financial hardship or poor wellbeing.
We also provide studio facilities a low cost to a large number of local community groups for use either to develop arts activities or to facilitate meetings. This includes local drama groups for those with learning disabilities as well as Autism Groups and the elderly and isolated.
Lastly we work closely with local schools to advance arts education, offering both regular drama, dance and performance classses as well as one off events such as "a play in a week" Through these activities a large proportion of local school children engage with the seagull each year.
