About us
Who we are
Trauma Foundation South West (TFSW) are a small charity set up in 2002 to ease the mental distress of traumatised asylum seekers and refugees. We provide free, long-term psychotherapy to people fleeing torture, oppression and war in Bristol, and professional training and supervision to individuals working with traumatised people in the southwest and nationally.
Our culture and values
We are a warm, welcoming team with a strong commitment to staff wellbeing and personal development and core values of Compassion, Collaboration and Courage. We embody the principles of being a trauma-informed organisation, supporting the wellbeing of both our clients (both refugees and those who work with them), and our staff, volunteers and trustees.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We believe that diversity is a strength, and the more perspectives, voices and experiences we can bring to our work the better. We particularly welcome job applications from people with lived experience relevant to our work as well as people from all marginalised groups, communities and backgrounds.
As our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy states, "we are committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our staff and trustees, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our staff and trustees to be truly representative of all sections of society and our service users, and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. TFSW - in providing services and goods - is also committed against unlawful discrimination of clients, customers, or the public."
