About us
Who we are
Transformation CPR is a registered charity, running community projects in this area of
multiple deprivation, with the aim of relieving poverty and supporting local people to
make positive changes in their lives. Camborne and Redruth have 5 neighbourhoods in
the 10% most deprived according to Cornwall Council’s analysis of the Index of Multiple
Deprivation in September 2015. Against this backdrop we have a huge team of volunteers
providing poverty relief work in Camborne, Pool, Redruth and sometimes beyond.
CPR Foodbank began in 2010 as a small project supporting local families in times of need.
Christmas saw us feeding a handful of families when a congregation member offered a
half defrosted chicken, asking to give it to someone who could not afford Christmas that
year. I got in touch with Cornwall Council to find a needy family and was asked, “How
many can you get?” This became known as Santa’s Meal Appeal and has grown each year,
with 270 families benefiting from a full Christmas lunch hamper delivered to their home
by volunteers in December 2015.
Foodbank has now grown according to need and presently feeds around 500 people each
month.
