About us
Who we are
Thorners was founded in 1690 and have proudly offered accommodation to women for over 225 years in Southampton. Whilst the needs of women may have changed over time, the fundamental principles behind what we do haven’t. We provide almshouse accomodation across two sites in Southampton, totalling 102 flats. Our objects have been widened over the years but basically we house 'poor widows, or single women aged 55 and over' who are require accommodation due to poverty and financial hardship. Applicants must be capable of living independently, as we do not provide care and support.
So we are a small team, who love what we do, come and join us!
