Theatre in the Rough Festival

Who we are

Theatre in the Rough is a multi-disciplinary producer of original artistic works, with a specialism in cross-sector collaboration and delivery. We bring extensive experience in visual arts, performance, creative writing, film and audio, particularly within the heritage and learning sectors.

Since 2009, we have produced 88 plays, films, audio dramas, documentaries and podcasts by 79 young creatives from across the Liverpool City Region and West Lancashire.

Theatre in the Rough has worked on projects with a wide range of institutions, including National Museums Liverpool, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, Tate Liverpool, Sefton MBC, Knowsley MBC, Unity Theatre Liverpool, Edge Hill University, and Ainsdale National Nature Reserve.

We are currently focusing on work that addresses the Climate Crisis and encourages us all to be good ecological citizens.
