About us
Who we are
The Welcome Directory is a multi-faith, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the successful resettlement of prison leavers through empowering faith communities to offer appropriate and sustained welcome and support. Our directory resource and capacity building events offer community-based solutions for overcoming barriers to social inclusion. We believe in the power of human potential and that all people deserve to belong.
Our culture and values
The Welcome Directory as an organisation values:
Human Potential - we value a faith that inspires us to achieve more than we can currently imagine.
Belonging - we value the creation of places of welcome where people leaving prison feel that they belong.
Non-judgmental acceptance - we value the desire to accept both that people make serious mistakes in life, but that change is possible when trust is promoted.
Welcome - we value welcome for all people irrespective of difference or history.
Flourishing - we value safe places where people can flourish as they grow in faith and are offered practical support.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
The Welcome Directory strives to be an organisation where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and respected. We want everyone with whom we come into contact, both internal and external to The Welcome Directory, to be treated fairly and with dignity.
The Welcome Directory is an equal opportunities organisation, which promotes diversity, inclusion, equality, openness, and transparency. The organisation welcomes and includes those with lived experience of the criminal justice sector and works to challenge public stigma and discrimination towards prison leavers, through promoting attitudinal change amongst faith communities, and encouraging social inclusion of prison leavers to support desistence.
