About us
Who we are
The Triangle – “A place for everyone” - Membership 135, attendance 100 adults, 30 children/youth, of a broad ethnic, age, and socio-economic demographic.
Our mission: to be a community where all are welcome into God’s family through faith, food and friendship.
Nine years after merging four churches into a new building, through the dedication of our current minister, Leadership Team and the Connexional Transformational Leadership programme, we have achieved steady growth (21 new members in 2023) and financial security. We offer a variety of worship formats supported by our organist and band, a thriving Junior Church, regular faith, prayer and friendship groups for all ages and reach further through our digital mission. We are proud of the role of our Coffee Lounge in the local community, demonstrating our caring, welcoming and serving ethos. Registering for same sex marriage, a tithing of our church income to charities, and our commitment to build on our bronze Eco Church status illustrates our wish to be relevant and just. Our church welcomes new people and ideas and needs a Youth Development Worker who will join us in embracing all that we have & work with us to drive our vision to transform our community and ourselves into greater expressions of God’s love.
Currently our young people meet on a Sunday morning and the group is led by a team of volunteer leaders.
The reason we are looking for a youth worker, qualified by experience is two-fold. We recognise that the spiritual development of our young people is paramount and we are committed to enabling them to grow in their spirituality, we are aware though that the experience of the existing leaders, though very enthusiastic and passionate, is limited and where many church’s see their young people leave when they approach their teens – because faith issues may appear irrelevant to their lives or “boring”, we are determined to put the best of our resources into this ministry. We do not expect someone to come in and do the work for us, but to be part of an existing team and to develop a team for the future.
There are other churches in the vicinity of the Triangle who currently have excellent youth work going on. Whilst it would help ecumenical relationships within the local area, we do not want our young people to leave to go to another church, but we are committed to putting the resources in place to enable them to grow in faith within our church and enable them to become leaders in the church in the future.
We are also looking for someone who will work with us to expand other areas of our youth ministry including a youth club. There is a real need to provide for the young people on the local Johnson Fold estate however we feel that having an open youth group would be ambitious initially.
It was a vision that birthed The Triangle as one church from the three separate churches. But this is not the end of the story and a further vision is needed to take the church forward for the next 10 years.
Currently: -
- We have a fantastic building.
- A regular congregation with new people coming every week.
- An amazing coffee lounge.
- Lots going on.
- Very competent people able to fulfil the necessary roles.
We’re saying that the church is a “place for everyone”, for the community. We’re saying that the church is for those within the existing church family but also issuing an invitation to those outside it saying, “come and be part of us and make yourself at home”. We place a great emphasis on hospitality and nurture.
What is our vision?
- To be a place for everyone.
What is our mission?
- To be a place where everyone experiences belonging to God’s family through our invitation and welcome.
What is our objective?
- To grow the church.
How will we achieve this?
It is important to focus and build on what we are already doing and being intentional about the invitation, welcome and belonging part of our mission. We believe that we shall grow our church by focussing on the following:
- By increasing the depth of faith and discipleship within the church
- With worship that is the very best it can be
- Developing relationships with God and with each other
- By placing special emphasis on the children and young people
- By embracing all within our pastoral care and service
- By enhancing the experience of being in the physical space of the Triangle
Employing a youth development worker would be a significant step towards making our vision a reality.
