About us
Who we are
Established in 1995, the Sherwood Forest Trust is a dedicated charity committed to protecting and preserving the heritage and environment of Sherwood Forest. Our work spans conservation, reforestation, and community engagement - restoring threatened heathlands, planting woodlands, and inspiring people to connect with the forest’s rich natural and cultural history through events, volunteering and nature-focused activities.
Our culture and values
The values that underpins our work are:
• Fairness - to treat others with inclusive care and attention
• Openness - to encourage clear communications and be transparent with our partners, stakeholders and users
• Respect - for the people we work with and for, and the environment in which they live
• Enjoyment - promoting positive learning, cultural and recreational opportunities for those who live, work and play in Sherwood Forest
• Sustainability - to develop our skills and those of our partners for the long term betterment of Sherwood
• Trust - to retain the confidence and belief of others in what we do
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
The Sherwood Forest Trust is committed to encouraging an equal, diverse, supportive and inclusive culture in our workplace.
We aim to eliminate unlawful discrimination and promote diversity throughout the whole workforce.
We want our workforce to be representative of all sections of society. We will achieve this through equal opportunities given to all job applicants, volunteers and employees.
We aim to prevent unlawful discrimination of customers or the public.
We take a zero tolerance stance on harassment, bullying, victimisation and unlawful discrimination. This includes promoting dignity and respect for all, taking seriously complaints of unfavourable treatment and disciplining those that breach our EDI policy.
