About us
Who we are
We’re the national charity for everyone who works, or has worked, in print, paper, packaging, graphics, publishing and the allied trades, and their immediate families, through practical, emotional and financial support.
Founded in 1827, we're the UK's second oldest occupational charity, and we're proud of our heritage. Even though the ways we support people in our sectors have changed completely over the last 200 years, the need for our help remains as great as it always has been.
Nowadays, we provide a free, confidential, independent 24/7/365 helpline for in-the-moment emotional support and practical assistance and advice. Our financial assistance is for people facing unexpected expenses or finding it difficult to afford day-to-day living costs. We have two independent living Almshouses in Basildon and Bletchley for those retired from careers in our industry; and we support print's emerging talent through our Rising Star Awards, providing grants and other ongoing information and advice for people building a career in the sector.
As beneficiary Graham says, "I hope that as many people as possible can learn about the Printing Charity, as if they ever find themselves in a situation like mine, they will know where to turn."
