About us
Who we are
The Manna is a volunteer-based daycentre working with homeless and marginalised people in Islington, North London. We have been running for 32 years.
We are proud to be one of very few projects that stayed fully open throughout Covid lockdown. In the last 2 years we have been joined by people from 58 different countries.
As well as the usual daycentre services (showers, laundry, food, clothing, internet access) we offer small group activities (poetry, art, singing, rambling, culture, gardening) and skilled one-to-one support and advocacy. There are many opportunities for clients to "put back in".
The Manna has become a community of welcome and tolerance, trust and hard work, humour, sorrows and joys.
Our small staff team works collectively alongside senior volunteers and we have a hands-on management committee. There is a lot of flexibility but also the need to do whatever needs doing.
