About us
Who we are
The Jawbone Collective was founded with the core mission of building confidence in creatives and enabling them to celebrate and share their work through publication and performance. Based in Dorset, the organization began its journey by personally funding the publication of its first ten poets in May 2022, through the support of its chair and principal editor. The collective has since grown to encompass a vibrant community spanning the Wessex Region, with activities centered in Dorchester and Bridport, while maintaining a broader reach across Southwest England.
Our culture and values
At our core, we're driven by a commitment to diversity and accessibility in the arts. Our community of 15 core members represents a rich tapestry of voices, including LGBTQ+, neurodivergent individuals, and creators from various age groups and backgrounds. We actively challenge publishing industry norms by bridging the gap between performance and page poetry, and creating inclusive spaces where every creative voice can flourish. Through our various platforms and initiatives, we're building a supportive environment where artists can develop their craft, share their work, and connect with a broader creative community.
