Who we are

The Fair Education Alliance (FEA) unites nearly 250 member organisations under a shared vision that no child’s educational success is limited by their socio-economic background. Our members (charities and social enterprises, think tanks, businesses and foundations, youth organisations, unions, universities and schools) are working collectively to create an inclusive system which:

• gives all young people a rounded education, focussing on skills and wellbeing alongside attainment
• engages parents and communities of all backgrounds
• supports, incentivises and rewards teachers and leaders to enable all children to thrive
• gives all young people the knowledge, skills and awareness to succeed in life after school

Our team of 11 individuals is the backbone for accelerating collective progress. We do this by coordinating actors across the ecosystem, ensuring diverse leadership of the collective agenda, co-creating a unified action plan and scaling initiatives systemically and based on need. 

We achieve this change through the following types of activities: 

1. Drive collective action: We convene and build the capacity of members to implement strategies to achieve our collective goals. Our members collaborate through weekly bulletins, seven Collective Action group meetings, our annual Summit and flagship Impact Festival.   
2. Influence policy: We work collaboratively with government bodies to support their strategy development. We do this through consultations with our members and producing an annual state of the nation Report Card measuring inequality from primary through to tertiary education. 
3. Scale impactful solutions: We run three Awards to nurture new ideas that will tackle entrenched issues and scale impactful solutions to reach the young people who need it most. The Awards provide our portfolio of 17 Award Winners with salary and intensive support for 12 – 24 months. 
4. Cross-cutting activity: We embed youth engagement across our work (building on the legacy of #iwill’s education work) and are developing digital tools to help members increase their impact by better joining up people and information across the network.
