The Community and Youth Music Library

Who we are

CYML is a large, independent library of sets of choral and orchestral music for hire, at reasonable rates, to choirs, orchestras, schools and ther musical organisations.  Loans are made either directly to the organsiation concerned or via the nationwide inter-library loan system.  The library is run by a part-time qualified music librarian who is assisted by dedicated volunteers and a board of Trustees.  Income is derived mainly from hire charges with occasional charitable grants.  The library is registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

Our culture and values

The purpose of CYML is to support and facilitate the participation in music-making by schools and community music groups, including choirs and orchestras, throughout the UK. It is now well known that involvement in music performance, singing in particular, plays a key role in improving people’s mental and physical health and quality of life and provides the opportunity to meet new people.
