About us
Who we are
Being bullied is something sadly common to many children in our schools and to employees in the workplace. Bullying can lead to anxiety, low self-esteem, hopelessness and isolation. Persistent bullying can lead to stress and depression, and in extreme cases, to people taking their own lives.
The Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation exists to raise awareness of the long-term damaging effects of bullying and to fund organisations who are tackling bullying and promoting equality in schools, at work, in our communities in sport and online. In total, we have granted around £500,000 to over 50 organisations that help us to achieve our aims.
In 2018, we hosted the first ever Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation Conference which brought together leading academics, practitioners, charities, community organisations and policy-makers to share evidence and insight into what works in tackling bullying.
We also held the first ever StandUp Champion Awards in London. The event was to honour those individuals, charities and businesses who are Champions in the field of anti-bullying.
In addition to these activities, we have worked to raise awareness through speaking and attending various events and building partnerships and networks with other organisations working in the same field, and in diversity and inclusion generally.
The Charity is a Company Limited by Guarantee and is registered with the Charity Commission.
