About us
Who we are
Our Mission is…
To challenge homelessness and substance misuse by promoting recovery and empowering people to transform their own lives.
The Basement Advisory Centre has been operating as a registered charity in Liverpool since 1999. Originally set up to offer evening drop in services to Rough Sleepers within the city, our building base was a small basement near lime street station and this formed the name of the organisation. After delivering the service from there for fourteen years we were able to create a purpose-built building situated in the centre of Liverpool.
The organisation has grown over this period and our ability to offer innovative services has secured contracts locally with Public Health Liverpool, The Big Lottery and Liverpool City Council, and our services which include:
- Street Drinking Assertive Outreach
- Rough Sleeper Services
- Hospital Discharge Outreach based within The Royal Liverpool Hospital
- Home Visit support – reducing evictions and support to those who are poorly accommodated in private rented sector.
We have been successful in securing the Urban Outreach contracts commissioned by Liverpool City Council and Public Health, this new business is contracted sees The Basement working in full partnership with The Whitechapel Centre also based within Liverpool City. Our joint expertise will ensure high performing teams working to reduce Homelessness and Rough Sleeping, reducing health inequalities and support recovery and life style changes for our entrenched service user community.
As a service, The Basement has always had close links to the recovery community across the city and our ethos and values ensure we deliver services to those who are hard to reach. We offer a person-centred and holistic approach in providing interventions, harm reduction and lifestyle change to those who are most vulnerable within our community.
