The Art Room

Who we are

The Art Room is a charity that offers a therapeutic intervention to children and young people who have difficulty engaging with their education due to challenges in their daily lives. Many are the most vulnerable children in their community.  In the Art Room they work with our practitioners to reduce their anxiety, develop their self-confidence and increase their personal and social skills.

The first Art Room was established in 2002 at Oxford Spires Academy, where the charity’s Head Office is based. Now there are 9 Art Rooms at schools in Oxfordshire, London and Edinburgh.  In addition The Art Room offers postgraduate training in Art Room practice in partnership with Bath Spa University and other types of training courses for teaching staff and other professionals.
