About us

Who we are

The Aloud Charity changes the lives of young people across Wales using the power of group singing. Our activities offer unique opportunities for young people, providing them with the self-confidence and skills they need to fulfil their potential.

We are a small and passionate team with big ambitions. No day is the same and we truly believe that our work makes a genuine difference to the wellbeing of children and teenagers.

Established in 2012, the charity delivers its activity through three main strands:

Only Boys Aloud is an antidote to the prevalent levels of low ambition affecting young Welsh men. Through singing and team activities, OBA increases self-esteem and motivation, building a strong sense of community and brotherhood. Composed of 200 boys across 11 choirs, OBA meet weekly in some of the most deprived areas of Wales with no audition and no fee to join.

Only Kids Aloud is a pan-Wales choir of 80 girls and boys of primary-school age. The choir runs annually using a residential model. With no national children’s choir in Wales, the OKA Chorus provides an opportunity for aspiring young singers to shine.

Only Girls Aloud is the newest choir to join the Aloud family. With no fees or auditions, this inspiring choir consists of 60 girls aged 13-18. The group welcomes guest speakers to share their life-experiences and support each other to develop confidence and self-expression.
