About us
Who we are
Thatcham Youth provides, facilitates & supports youth provision for children & young people in Thatcham.
Thatcham Youth was established in 2010 when a local young resident approached Thatcham Vision to ask for a youth club for his age group, he was 10 at the time. After meetings with lots of partners and a lot of hard work, Vision Youth Club opened it’s doors in April 2010 and continues to run today and is a very popular club!
In 2014 we took on responsibility for establishing a regular Roller Disco in Thatcham, following the success of the annual events held each year during Thatcham Festival. Thatcham Roller Disco launched on 1st March 2014 and continues to be held on the first Saturday of each month at Kennet Leisure Centre.
In 2017 we launched G-STAX Youth Club for 11-14 Year Olds, now known as The Zone, which runs weekly on a Monday from 7-8.30pm at Moorside Community Centre.
In 2019 we launched our brand new Outreach Youth Service, going out onto the streets of Thatcham to engage with young people directly and encourage them to get involved with our youth clubs and activities and this runs during the spring & summer months. We also began to run regular free school holiday activities during the Easter & Summer holidays and these are a main part of our activity offering.
2020 was a challenging year for the charity as we offered a range of virtual sessions & detached youth work during lockdown and restricted youth club sessions.
2021 Has been a chance for us to get our clubs re-opened during March & April. We also have a couple of brand new projects launching soon which we are really excited to announce. Keep an eye on the website for all the details!
