About us
Who we are
Tapping House is a registered charity based in Hillington, King’s Lynn. We provide free care, comfort and compassion to adults in Norfolk and North Cambridgeshire living with life-limiting illnesses and support for their carers, families and friends.
We believe in living life to the end and bringing joy to patients’ lives. We work with everyone as an individual, supporting them on each step of their journey through our outpatient unit, inpatient unit, and in their own homes to live a good life and achieve a good death, in their place of choice.
We also work with families along the way and offer bereavement support. We are the only independent Hospice in this part of the UK, which enables us to deliver the most compassionate, dynamic and proactive rest-of-life care. As such we are a centre of clinical excellence in the region and further afield, recognised at the forefront of education in palliative care for over 40 years.
We care deeply that everyone is cared for as an individual, supporting them on each step of their journey, whether that journey is through our Outpatient unit – Tulip Centre, our Inpatient Unit – Dr Hugh Ford or through our Hospice at Home service.
Our compassionate and outstanding care provides you with choice. The choice to die peacefully at home with our support. The confidence to self-refer, should you be seeking help with symptoms, like breathlessness. The reassurance to seek bereavement support, even if it’s been a while that you lost someone special.

Our Values
CARES: Compassion, Accessibility, Respect, Excellence and Spark
Compassion
Compassion is at the heart of our Hospice ethos and informs the way we work. It enables us to build trusting and valued relationships.
Accessibility
Accessibility is our pledge to ensuring that people of all abilities, backgrounds and beliefs can fully engage with every aspect of our organisation. This applies to patients, employees, volunteers or donors. We use a proactive language to promote this and we encourage openness where people can challenge inappropriate attitudes and behaviours.
Respect
Respect is valuing and honouring the intrinsic dignity of every person we interact with, acknowledging their rights, feelings and perspectives.
Excellence
Excellence is a measure of performance and continues the progress established by a strong foundation, where all levels of our organisation participate in continual improvement.
Spark
Spark is what makes us distinctive. We dial it up by speaking with joy and enthusiasm to make people feel good, develop relationships, find solutions and using language to engage people.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Tapping House (TH) recognises that every person is an individual with different needs, preferences and abilities. It aims to reflect this diversity in everything it does, including making its services inclusive and accessible to individuals from all sections of the community and attracting and retaining a diverse workforce. TH believes that harnessing different life experiences, attributes and contributions from staff, volunteers and service users will make the organisation a more effective and inclusive organisation and a better place to work.
