About us
Who we are
Violence is the third leading cause of death of young people in Europe. Some of these deaths occur because the young people present do not know what to do, they panic and don't call for help. StreetDoctors is an award-winning UK wide charity and network of trainee and junior doctors who equip young people with emergency lifesaving skills and the confidence to use them if they are present at the scene of a medical emergency. By highlighting the death and serious injury associated with violent crime, StreetDoctors also help to discourage young people from carrying weapons in the first place. We treat young people as potential lifesavers, capable of acting responsibly to help others.
StreetDoctors' vision is a world free from youth violence, and since first registering as a charity we have taught over 7000 young people these essential skills. We have eleven recorded cases of young people helping others in a medical emergency following StreetDoctors sessions, and many more stories of young people passing on their skills to others. StreetDoctors sessions have been validated by Project Oracle (the Children and Young People's Evidence Hub) as a Level 2 Standard of Evidence and in 2016 we received a Highly Commended at the Civil Society Charity of the Year Awards.
Our volunteers are involved in all aspects of running their local team supported by our small central support team based in London. As an employer we offer a relaxed informal and fast moving working environment with plenty of opportunities for you to grow and develop. We are passionate about improving prospects for vulnerable young people and the power of volunteering and social movements to make change happen.
