About us
Who we are
St George the Martyr Charity is small, endowed charity that has been tackling need and hardship amongst the residents of north Southwark for over 400 years.
We currently provide:
- Outreach support/pastoral care to around 250 older people in our area of benefit.
- Hardship grants and other financial support to people in financial need.
- Social opportunities for isolated older people.
- Home hairdressing and home nailcare services to older people who are housebound or unable to access free NHS nail treatment.
Our approach is to build real human relationships with our beneficiaries whilst at the same time being objective, maintaining high standards of ‘customer care’ and being mindful of the Charity’s reputation and charitable objects.
The Charity is independent of the church, and we provide support to people of all faiths and none.
