About us
Who we are
Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (SRASAC) works to support recovery from the emotional and psychological distress caused by trauma from rape, sexual violence or sexual abuse/exploitation whenever it happened in a persons’ life.
Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (SRASAC) is a feminist organisation, and everything we do is underpinned by our ethos and values. We support people of all genders and none. We understand that people’s social identities can overlap, creating compounding experiences of discrimination. This can include discrimination due to racism, class, poverty, gender identity (including trans people), gender non conformism, disability, sexuality or immigrant status.
We believe that every individual who is part of the SRASAC community – that is all clients, trustees, volunteers and staff- should be treated with dignity and respect and be part of a service that is free from barriers.
We:
- Believe.
- Seek to enable all people to become empowered to live the lives they want to lead.
- Believe that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect.
- Value and celebrate the diversity of our clients. We strive to be an inclusive service and support people of all identities. We recognise the combination of different natures of oppression.
- Are determined to stop rape and sexual violence
- Speak out against and challenge the myths and stereotypes that perpetuate sexual violence
- Believe that perpetrators choose to rape, and that it can be prevented
