Who we are

Spring ACT - Action. Compassion. Technology. - is a non-profit organisation with the vision of empowering people through innovative technologies to take action and help eliminate global social injustices. With a multicultural and pluridisciplinary team of different nationalities and 80 volunteers all around the world, Spring ACT is offering solutions to tackle the global issues that mostly affect  people, especially those in vulnerable situations. 

In response to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic with the drastic increase of domestic violence (DV), we developed "Sophia" - the world’s first chatbot assisting victims of DV to gather potential evidence and seek help. Sophia, globally maps the local help for survivors of DV and makes the relevant information easily accessible no matter where they are in the world, in many languages, and without leaving any digital trace:  With servers based in Switzerland, Sophia is easily scalable as “she” has a simple but highly secure architecture that facilitates the integration, country by country, of local information on the help available to survivors of DV, their rights, and the preservation of potential evidence and important documents. 

Our approach of combining global resources with local partnerships won us the Swiss Future Prize in the category “Think Global, Act Local” by the President of Switzerland in 2022 and the EU Award for Innovation in 2023.

Life has its ups and downs. It can be especially challenging to work on difficult topics such as violence against women, discrimination, and other social injustices.
