About us
Who we are
Southeast and East Asian Centre (SEEAC) is a community organisation run by and for migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers from Southeast and East Asia, as well as people of these heritages living in the UK. We are here to support you through challenges related to welfare, immigration, employment, healthcare, racism, mental health, and gender-based violence.
As a user-led grassroots organisation, we also campaign and advocate for the rights of under-represented groups within our communities. This includes precarious migrant workers, asylum seekers, survivors of trafficking and labour exploitation, women, and people of marginalised genders.
Our mission is to build a society where members of Southeast and East Asian communities in the UK can live free from social exclusion, discrimination, exploitation, and poverty. We strive to create opportunities for everyone to thrive and contribute positively to wider British society.
Southeast and East Asian communities are diverse, coming from countries and regions such as Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, East Timor, Brunei, the Philippines, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, North and South Korea, and Japan. While we celebrate this diversity, many of us share common experiences of marginalisation and the challenges of being seen as the “Asian Other” in the UK.
With the experience of established community leaders and organisations, SEEAC aims to reach out to some of the most under-represented groups within these communities, providing vital support and a strong collective voice.
SEEAC is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) by guarantee, committed to serving and empowering our communities.
