About us
Who we are
The Trust operates Paignton Zoo in Devon and Newquay Zoo in Cornwall, in addition to running three UK nature reserves and supporting national and international conservation programmes. We are a significant contributor to zoological and botanical conservation, research and education. We employ 240 staff and more than 200 volunteers, welcome over 500,000 visitors each year and have an annual turnover in excess of £12m.
The strategic purpose of the Trust is to take action to protect at-risk animals and plants from the impacts of biodiversity loss in order to help halt species decline.
Our culture and values
Our values are:
- Collaboration - We work together as one team to achieve common goals, communicating openly and honestly, showing respect and feeling secure enough to share opinions, skills and knowledge.
- Accountability - We show a willingness to take responsibility for our actions and be judged on our performance, behaving honestly, fairly and ethically.
- Resilience - We use coping mechanisms to bounce back from different types of hardships; and build strong relationships with others, helping them to achieve success at work.
- Enthusiasm - We enjoy ourselves at work, sharing what we do to positively influence others and are excited to tell others about our Vision and Mission.
- Safety First - We maintain and follow health and safety standards at all times, relying on each other to keep our sites and staff safe - physically, emotionally and mentally.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
