About us
Who we are
South Leicester Sea Cadets are a youth organisation that is part of the wider Sea Cadet Corps Community.
We offer a nautial theme learning experiance for young people aged 10-18 using Royal Naval traditions, providing a space they can thrive and gain experiances that other organisations cant provide.
We are run by volunteer adults who give up there time to make sure the young people get the full cadet experiance.
There are two types of adult volunteers with in the unit:
- Uniormed instructors - these volunteers wear the uniform of the Royal Navy and mainly provide the running of the unit on a nightly basis teaching lessons in the unit and at weekends whislt on camp.
- Unit management Team - these volunteers work in the background ensuring the charity side of the unit runs smoothly by looking after the funds, the fundraising, and general upkeep of the building.
All volunteers that come to the Unit are fully DBS checked by the Sea Cadet Corps to ensure the safety of every young person placed into our care.
They can also take full advantage of the opertunites the Sea Cadet Corps provide, such as First aid at work, RYA qualifications in powerboat handling, Sailing and BCU qualifications in paddlesports for free or a highly subsidised cost.
