Who we are

Smile International is passionate about helping to relieve suffering and poverty around the world through our Feeding, Educating, Empowering and Developing programmes. We are dedicated to giving hope to those in need and providing people with an opportunity to develop emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually.

Feeding 

Good nutrition is essential for health, child development, education and the ability to work. Through Smile International’s programmes we are providing food for hundreds of families every year and we are able to provide a child with a hot, nutritious meal each school day, for less than the cost of a newspaper. We are also encouraging people to become self-sufficient with the provisions and training to produce their own food.

Educating

Through poverty, war or natural disaster many children are denied access to education, limiting them to a life of low paid casual labour. Smile International is helping to change this by providing education projects. As well as supplying volunteer skills and equipping schools with essential materials, we seek to provide an exciting holistic curriculum, not only embracing numeracy, literacy and technology, but also encouraging cooperation and team work through sport as well developing creativity and visual skills through craft and music.

Empowering

Most disadvantaged people want to be self-sustaining in order to support themselves and their families with dignity. Smile International helps to equip people with tools, micro-financing and training in employment skills, to help them out of a dependency culture.

Developing

We have helped to bring clean water to the heart of communities by providing wells, simple pumps, pipes, tap stands and basic sanitation facilities. We also help disadvantaged people through the provision of a palliative care service and the training of carers and health professionals.
