About us
Who we are
Skanda Vale Hospice in Saron, Carmarthenshire offers unhurried, highly individualised care and respite to adults with a life-limiting illness and palliative care needs. A beautiful and happy place, filled with laughter and vibrant colour, our hospice is nurse lead and primarily run by volunteers. Our services are completely free of charge.
Compassion is at the heart of what we do, expressed by human kindness, generosity and a deep commitment to the well-being of everyone we care for and work alongside. We aim to provide an inspirational standard of palliative care and support, treating individuals and their families as a whole, taking care of not only their physical needs, but their social, emotional and spiritual needs as well.
We currently offer Day Hospice each Wednesday and one week’s Respite Stay a month. We would love more volunteers to join us so we can increase that provision. We also offer a Remote Companion service and a monthly coffee morning to which all are welcome.
Our culture and values
Our vision is to positively influence a future in which everyone within our community works together to support those facing life-limiting illnesses, so that we may all live well and die well.
Our mission is to provide the very best care that we can. Our belief is that a person’s mental, emotional, and spiritual needs are as important as their physical or medical ones. It is from this foundation that we tailor our care to each patient’s needs and preferences, and also that we extend that to the people closest to them
Our core values are compassion, humanity, trust, respect, commitment and accountability.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
At Skanda Vale Hospice, we are committed to fostering an environment of equality, diversity, and inclusion. We believe that every individual, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances, has the right to compassionate care, respect, and dignity. Our hospice is a place where everyone is valued for their unique contributions. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for our patients, their families and our team members. We actively promote a culture of openness and understanding, ensuring that all voices are heard and that discrimination in any form is not tolerated. By embracing diversity and championing inclusion, we aim to provide holistic care that truly reflects the needs and values of our community.
