About us

Who we are

Founded in 2005, we are a charity dedicated to providing a 100% free digital library service to people whom require assistance reading and experiencing books. Whether it be difficulties involving visual impairment, problems handling physical media, or any other disability - we want to make books accessible for all. Our members (children and adults) are provided with unlimited access to our ever-expanding library and allow them to download books in their preferred format, ready for their own personal use. We work closely with literary publishers in licensing books for use in our library, and enlist the help of our volunteers to convert the books into multiple formats that are compatible with our service.

Mission Statements

- To assist print-disabled individuals with reading & allow them to discover the world of books.

- To remove the barrier between print-disability and reading to empower readers of all ages.

In 2014 the charity received a lottery grant to enable us to provide the School Librarian Project, which allows visually impaired school children the opportunity to become “Seeing Ear school librarians”. These school librarians can request books from us that they or their friends need to have transcribed into an electronic format.

In addition to this a number of creative writing competitions for children (5-17) with last years competition being judged by Neil Griffiths.

The library is available to anyone within the UK and the charity is registered in England and Scotland.
