Who we are

At RSPCA Sussex Brighton & East Grinstead Branch our aim is to promote kindness and to prevent cruelty to animals by all lawful means.

As a branch of the RSPCA although we are a separately registered charity and run independently, we are proud to be part of the oldest welfare charity around. 

Animals can rely on us to rescue them when they need us most. To rehabilitate them wherever possible, provide them with the very best veterinary care and to find them new homes, either through rehoming or release.

We are responsible for raising our own funds to help the animals in our local area.  We do this through donations. Legacies, fund raising events, retail sales of both new and donated goods and by offering private boarding facilities.

We work with almost 1,000 animals each year either, finding new, loving, and responsible homes or releasing them back into the wild they came from.    In addition to our rehoming work, we also support many local people and pets through financial assistance. This means owned and much loved pets can be microchipped, neutered, or receive treatment which their owner may be struggling to pay for.  We also work with retraining difficult and problem animals that have behavioural issues.

The Branch gives priority to those animals with a genuine welfare need as identified by members of the RSPCA Inspectorate. Such animals may be the subject of an ongoing legal case or may have been removed and signed over to the RSPCA with the consent of an owner unable to meet the animal's welfare needs.

The Branch also takes in local animals for rehoming whose owners, through bereavement, disability, age, marriage break-up or other reasons, are no longer able to keep them.
