About us
Who we are
The Religious Education Council of England and Wales (REC) is a national charity campaigning and advocating for high-quality education in religion and worldviews. The RE Council was formed 50 years ago, bringing together different national faith, belief and educational organisations, to seek to improve RE in the country. We have 60+ member organisations who share the same aim.
Our Vision:
Every young person experiences an academically rigorous and personally inspiring education in religion and worldviews.
A recent survey showed that two thirds of UK adults think RE is an important part of the school curriculum today, and that RE has an impact on people’s ability to understand each other in wider society.
