About us
Who we are
Reed was founded in 1960 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Alec Reed and is a leading recruitment company, based in the United Kingdom. As the world’s largest family-run recruitment business, Reed operates across the UK, Europe, the USA, the Middle East, and Asia.
Reed offers a wide range of services, including permanent, contract, temporary, and outsourced recruitment, as well as HR consultancy. We have grown into a family of companies, with our online job site, reed.co.uk, being the UK’s first employment website and remaining one of the largest more than 25 years on.
With a strong commitment to improving lives through work, Reed continues to support both job seekers and employers in achieving their goals.
Our culture and values
Reed's core values emphasise being fair, open, and honest, taking ownership, and working together. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels they belong and can freely express their ideas.
We also prioritise social responsibility, with significant investments in match-funding campaigns through Big Give and charitable causes through the Reed Foundation – which also owns 18% of the Reed business. We’re proud to say this means Reed employees work one day a week for charity.
Our dedication to continuous improvement and innovation ensures Reed not only enhances business performance for employers but also supports the growth and wellbeing of their employees.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Reed’s equity, diversity, and inclusion policy is dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can be their authentic selves.
We actively celebrate a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds, observing important events including Ramadan, Lunar New Year, Black History Month, South Asian Heritage Month and more. We are also committed to supporting gender equality, closing the gender pay gap, and mentoring women in leadership roles.
Reed is recognised as a Disability Confident Employer, Mindful Employer, Member of the 5% Club, and a signatory of the Race at Work Charter, Tech She Can Charter, Care Leaver Covenant, and the Armed Forces Covenant.
Our inclusive recruitment practices ensure fair opportunities for all, reflecting the communities we serve.
