About us
Who we are
RAND Europe is a not-for-profit organisation that conducts independent research. Our mission is to help improve policy and decision-making through evidence-based research and analysis. We realise our mission by undertaking objective, balanced research, sharing the insights and information widely, and working in partnership with a range of clients and collaborators.
RAND Europe was established in 1992 as an independently chartered European unit of the US policy research institution, the RAND Corporation. With offices in Brussels and Cambridge, RAND Europe employs between 80-100 researchers, across a wide range of disciplines: - Just over half of our research staff have research doctorates with the balance holding other post- graduate degrees (i.e. MA, M. Sc., LLM, etc.).
RAND Europe's in-house groups offer multidisciplinary research skills, both qualitative and quantitative. Our work lies on the continuum between that of universities and consultancies, combining the academic rigour of universities and the professional, task orientated approach of consultancies.
RAND Europe has three research groups: the Home Affairs and Social Policy group (which provides expertise in the areas of justice and social policies), the Innovation, Health and Science group (which focuses on science and technology, innovation policy, health and healthcare) and the Defence, Security and Infrastructure group.
