About us
Who we are
Pinpoint Cambridgeshire was set up in 2008 ‘for parents, by parents’ of children with additional needs, and is now well established and well respected for being able to make a real difference to services and to outcomes by providing a strong parent/carer voice. With parents, we have been instrumental in improving a wide range of services from Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, to wheelchair services, to dyslexia guidance for schools and are currently facilitating the co-production of a new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Strategy and a home/school Transport Charter with parents and Cambridgeshire County Council.
We believe that achieving the best possible outcomes for all those with additional needs is best done through ‘co-production’ – commissioners and providers working together with parents as equal partners in all services and support both at the individual family level and the strategic level.
The Local Area has just received a largely positive OFSTED / CQC inspection on the implementation of the 2014 SEND Reforms, but Pinpoint’s parent survey for the inspection, with over 500 responses, highlighted some on-going key concerns for parents. We are passionate about engaging and empowering parents and carers of children and young people with any additional needs to continue to deliver results for all our stakeholders.
Pinpoint became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2014 and currently has a team of 6 dedicated, friendly and experienced part-time staff, plus volunteers and occasional freelancers.
Our Registered Charity No is: 1156920
Pinpoint Cambs website is geared towards parents and carers and offers information parents and carers can trust, help for parent support groups across the county, and chances to get involved in making decisions about services such as health, social care and education.
Pinpoint provides a 'place' where parents can:
- ask questions and know they won't be judged
- say things they may find hard to say to others
- meet other parents like them
- feel listened to and assured that something will happen as a result
- get access to information and support to make informed choices about the best support for their family
- get involved in deciding how that support is provided
- enjoy mutual trust and respect, honesty, openness and transparency
Pinpoint has a grant from Awards4All to develop an new website which should be up and running by September.
