About us
Who we are
About Parent Zone
Parent Zone is a social enterprise that sits at the heart of modern family life, providing advice, knowledge and support to shape the best possible future for children as they embrace the online world. We bridge the gaps between parents, policy and platforms, providing insights and knowledge in order to shape a better future for all.
For nearly 20 years we have worked with partners such as Google, Meta and DSIT to develop innovative projects, giving families information, support and advice.
We are optimistic about the future while recognising the challenges families face in bringing up children in a digital world – challenges we seek to ameliorate.
Our culture and values
We are an ambitious, pragmatic, innovative organisation determined to improve outcomes for all children regardless of background.
We expect people to give their best because our work is important. We have to challenge ourselves to do better and to improve wherever we can because we want to improve outcomes for all children and families regardless of their background. That includes families we might overlook, families we might disagree with, families from all social and economic backgrounds - parenting is a universal experience and our role is to think about all children not just the ones we think need us most - or least.
So what does that actually look like? It’s about helping parents and children navigate the shifting challenges that come with online activity. We know that the digital world doesn’t stand still it changes and evolves all of the time and we have to help families deal with that and find safe ways through.
It’s also about discouraging things that don’t improve outcomes for children. It’s very easy sometimes for organizations to reach for simple solutions. And we don’t do that - we’re honest about what’s going to work and what might not work.
The qualities that we prize most, and which make our values come alive are things like …
Striving for excellence but really accepting that sometimes we fail. What’s important to us is that when something does go wrong, we acknowledge it and we tell each other as kindly and thoughtfully as we can when something’s gone wrong so that we can get it better next time.
And we really value everybody’s contribution. This is really important to our culture. It doesn’t matter where you sit in the organisation - whether you’re brand new and joining as an intern or you’re a Director. Everybody’s ideas matter and everybody’s contributions matter. The digital world is huge and complex and means different things to different people so hearing as many different voices as we can makes our work better. So we encourage people never to be shy about sharing their ideas and feeling able to contribute.
