About us
Who we are
Our Mission is to support prisoners and their families to make a fresh start and to minimise the harm that can be caused by imprisonment on offenders, families and communities.
Mentors are an invaluable support to somebody leaving prison. You would meet with the individual a few weeks prior to their release, to begin building up a relationship and to identify the kind of help they need. Then you will meet that individual on the day of their release, at the gate, and support them to attend their appointments in the community. This could be with their probation officer, to go to the job centre, or to the council to advocate for housing for them. You will then stay in touch with that individual, to provide practical and emotional support and meet with them for a third time after release. The mentor can ensure that the individual has access to other sources of support that they need in their local area.
