About us
Who we are
Each year one child in every 100 will be born with a learning disability. Of these people only a small number will achieve independence, get a job and own a home of their own. Most will need a lifetime of help and constant attention. Orchard Vale Trust was set up to provide a caring environment and support to meet the individual needs of those in its care for the rest of their lives, where this is appropriate and possible. The Trust was registered as a charity in September 1985, opened its first home, East Court, in 1986; its second, Northcroft, in 1991 and its third home, St Chad’s, in 1995. The Trust’s fourth home, Ferndale, was opened in 1999.
