NW1 Green - making a difference to the health of children in London.
We have an ambitious plan, and need your involvement and ideas!
We are a primary school in central London, with a playground that adjoins a busy road with some of the highest recorded NO2 levels in London.
Our grand plan:
We will create a huge living 'green wall' along the entire fence, planted with wild flowers and butterfly attracting plants. This will not only give the children a fantastic environmental project, but will screen the pollutants from the traffic. Pollution monitors will also be installed so that the kids can get real time information about the effects of local pollution.
We’re helping the next generation understand how to shape their environment for the future.
The project is being generously supported by a number of government, council, and corporate bodies, and the design is being created by world-renowned architects Sir Terry Farrell CBE.
